TSA Sees Uptick in Firearm Confiscation Due to The Pandemic-Induced Rising Gun Sales

Last week, an Arizona man was stopped by TSA agents at Eastern Iowa Airport for having a handgun and three loaded magazines in his carry-on bag. This was the third gun found by TSA officers at the Eastern Iowa Airport this year. There were five guns found in 2019.

Gun sales have surged in 2020, many of those purchases coming from first-time buyers.

Airports across the country are sitting mostly empty these days due to the pandemic. Despite that, the number of firearms being confiscated by TSA has gone up from a year ago.
